Set some few thousand years after the banishment of the Black Blight, the defeat of Oltura, and the legend of the twin Rathalos and the warring kingdoms - EVENT H0RIZ0N tells the tale of Raine and her Rathalos, Lio, as the two try to find safe harbor in the town of Black Canyon.
Q: WHAT IS EVENT H0RIZ0N?
A: Event H0riz0n is a comic based on Monster Hunter and Monster Hunter Stories, set in a distant future.Q: WILL CHARACTERS FROM THE MAINLINE GAMES AND STORIES SHOW UP IN THE COMIC?
A: They might have cameos! It's been a very, very long time in Event H0riz0n's canon, and I also don't want to take away from other people's riders and stories, so I chose to move the time and setting far enough ahead that this wouldn't come into play.Q: WHAT IS THE AGE RATING ON EVENT H0RIZ0N?
A: Right now I'm looking roughly at 16+ for blood, death, canon-typical and atypical violence, disturbing themes (abuse, systemic violence, child abuse, cults and religious abuse, realistic depictions of mental illness and grief), suggestive content + humor. I may adjust this depending on how the comic progresses.Q: IS (in-game event / character / thing) CANON?
A: So I think the easiest answer to this is... do you think it is? Event H0riz0n is mostly relevant to what is happening within its own bubble, and while some things from the games and anime that inspired it will be referenced, I am choosing to keep some stuff ambiguous just because of the nature of RPGs. I know from personal experience that it's kind of a frustrating answer to receive, but I also know that the MH and MHStories communities are really creative and I just kind of want to focus on this story I've made without dwelling on canon from the games and anime!

A professor of obscure folklore and history, as well as an archaeologist working at Black Canyon University. She has a mixed reputation among her fellow educators and students for being closed off and severe, but her knowledge is unrivaled.Misha is an oddity even among her fellow Wyverians, avoiding community to live alone, but not all is as it seems. The professor has been sheltering Raine and Lio from the Guild for quite some time now, and even provided the rider with a kinship stone and licensed work to silence any inquiries.Note I: The scarf Misha wears is a sentimental keepsake and very worn / loved. It's threadbare in places...
Note II: While scales are not uncommon among some Wyverians, Misha's are an unusual color and pattern placement. The tail is a bit odd, too.
Note III: Her sclera are light blue-green, and her pupils are vertical slits.

A wandering rider who considers herself clanless.Raised in the harsh inter-guild foster care system with the intent of being reunited with her family - or at least a member of her clan - only to find doors closed to her when she aged out of care, Raine and her Dreadking Rathalos, Lio, have spent their time on the fringes of the West trying to avoid the Guild. The two travel around, performing odd jobs. Raine isn't much of a fighter, but farmers and small towns always benefit from the presence of a large wyvern and usually won't tell the guild. Usually - anyway.Raine doesn't like talking about the circumstances that led to her isolation, but is generally pretty kind and willing to lend a hand to those in need.Note I: She only recently received this kinship stone...
Note II: The marks around her eyes, nose, and heart have been present since she was a baby.
Note III: Red pupils - this is not normal!

Though there is little in the way of verified records chronicling her life, Raisa Windchaser is still spoken highly of in legends belonging to both hunter and rider clans. It's said that long ago - perhaps some four-thousand years, before the fall of the tower and the shift in our climate - a young rider sought to find the true source of a plague known as the "Black Blight". This rider traveled all around the world, learning all they could from various peoples, but still could not find a real cure or cause of the plague that periodically dug its claws into the land.Soon, she learned that her beloved Rathalos had contracted the Blight, and so, too, had she. While others would give up on finding this to be their fate, the rider instead made peace with her condition and sought to bring comfort to her loyal companion. With their final days upon them, rider and monster used their strength to stop a fearsome black dragon that had emerged to sup upon the hopeless victims of the -(The entry ends here.)Note: It is said that Raisa's kinship stone took on a great burden when she fell ill, carrying not only the Blight of the rider, but of her monsters, as well.

Raine's Dreadking Rathalos and best friend. His egg was found deep within the ancient Wyverian ruins of the Windchaser Pass, and responded to Raine's earnest wish for a true friend.Lio was born with an affinity for the dragon element, and thus possesses a natural defense against Dragonblight as well as skill with dragon-based attacks.Despite his fearsome appearance, Lio is rather gentle and kind for a Rathalos and rather playful. He quite adores meeting new people and acts as an ambassador for Raine.Note: Lio's wings possess a unique pattern, and the blue-black claws, scales, and wing membrane shimmer ever so slightly.
